Chapter 16

Who's that stunning woman sitting with the gorgeous guy? Wait...isn't that Sebastian Kingsley, the CEO of Monarch Group from Fairhaven?

Julian Montgomery raised an eyebrow, his voice dripping with amusement. "I thought Sebastian was practically a monk who never stepped foot in nightclubs. Well, well...looks like even saints can fall from grace."

Nathan Blackwood and Julian had both mistaken Dominic for Sebastian.

The Kingsley brothers were actually quadruplets. Sebastian and Dominic were identical twins, making it nearly impossible for outsiders to tell them apart.

"Damn! That's unfair. That bombshell should be mine. What a waste on Sebastian!" Julian's eyes gleamed with predatory interest as he spoke.

Downstairs, Evelyn was laughing brightly at something Dominic said.

Nathan's grip tightened around his glass.

That radiant smile used to belong exclusively to him.

What infuriated him more was how unaffected she seemed by the online scandal. Here she was, enjoying herself while he'd spent the entire day damage-controlling and agonizing over explanations.

"I'm making my move tonight. Don't care if she's with Sebastian - even goalkeepers let shots through sometimes." Julian licked his lips, already straightening his tie.

"Don't even think about it. She's my wife."

Julian's jaw dropped. "What?!"

"Ex-wife," Nathan corrected bitterly, the words burning his throat like cheap whiskey.

"You divorced THAT? Are you blind or just plain stupid? Scratch that - you're both! She's a fucking goddess! Makes your precious Victoria look like last season's knockoff!"

Nathan's icy glare could have frozen lava. Julian held up his hands. "Just calling it like I see it. And you refused to introduce us back then - had me thinking she was some bridge troll. Who knew— Hey! Where are you going?"

Nathan was already striding away before Julian finished speaking.

Evelyn and her brother Dominic had been drinking steadily. Her porcelain cheeks were now flushed pink.

"Evie, maybe we should slow down?" Dominic eyed her with concern as she swayed slightly.

"Another round!" Evelyn could handle her liquor, but tonight she wanted to drown her sorrows.

When Dominic's phone rang with his boss's special tone, he grimaced. "Evie, hold that thought. Emergency call - I'll be right back."

She waved him off dramatically. "Dismissed!"

The moment Dominic disappeared, men began circling Evelyn like sharks sensing blood in the water.

Her sharp gaze assessed each would-be suitor with lazy disinterest.

Too short. Too scrawny. Weak jawline. Beady eyes. None hold a candle to my ex-husband...

Pity Nathan's perfect exterior housed such a rotten core. What a waste of good genetics.

A commotion at the neighboring booth caught her attention. Some entitled brat was forcing drinks on a clearly uncomfortable woman.

The ringleader's smarmy grin was unmistakable - Damian Sterling, Victoria's odious brother.

Evelyn's blood boiled when she spotted one of his cronies slipping something into a drink before passing it to Damian.

Without hesitation, she marched over.

"Damn! Check out this masterpiece!" The group leered as Evelyn approached.

Damian's eyes lit up, immediately shoving his current companion aside.

"Mind if I join? You all look like you're having...fun." Evelyn's slightly slurred words only added to her allure.

"Anything you want, gorgeous." Damian licked his lips like a starving man at a banquet.

Evelyn picked up the spiked drink. "Simple. Drink this."

The group fell silent. Damian's greasy smile faltered.

Everyone knew what was in that glass. Only an idiot would—

"Need help?"

Before anyone reacted, Evelyn's almond eyes narrowed dangerously. With one swift motion, she upended the glass onto Damian's stunned face.

Gasps erupted. The woman beside him screamed and scrambled backward.
