Chapter 247

"Mr. Blackwood, swear to me you won't act rashly when I tell you this," Oliver Sinclair pleaded, his voice trembling.

"Out with it!" Nathan Blackwood's command cut through the air like a whip.

Oliver swallowed hard before continuing. "I just witnessed Ms. Carter entering a private suite. Then a man in glasses pulled her inside."

Nathan's vision blurred with rage, crimson flooding his eyes. "Which room? Take me there now!"

Meanwhile, Alexander Whitmore's assistant had just returned with the requested hangover remedy.

Alexander took the bottle with surprising gentleness, carefully administering the medicine to Evelyn. He even held a glass of water to her lips afterward.

The assistant stood frozen in shock.

Alexander Whitmore was known as the Ice Prince of Wall Street - a ruthless businessman who concealed his cunning behind polished manners. In all his years of service, the assistant had never seen his boss show such tenderness toward any woman.

Who was this mysterious beauty capable of thawing the untouchable Alexander Whitmore?

The assistant suppressed a knowing smile. Even the most powerful men weren't immune to love's spell when faced with true beauty.

"Feeling better?" Alexander asked softly as the color gradually returned to Evelyn's cheeks.

Evelyn pressed a hand to her chest, her gaze slowly focusing. A wave of nausea still churned in her stomach.

"Alcohol is poison," Alexander chided gently, offering another sip of water. "You should be more careful."

Though her memory remained foggy, Evelyn instinctively trusted this stranger. His gold-rimmed glasses gave him an air of refined sophistication, like a modern-day prince from a fairy tale.

"You seem... familiar," Evelyn murmured, rubbing her throbbing temples.

Alexander's fox-like eyes narrowed behind his glasses. So she didn't remember.

The door exploded inward with a crash.

Nathan stormed in like a force of nature, his fury radiating in waves.

Alexander's expression darkened instantly, his glasses glinting dangerously.

"Sir, that's Nathan Blackwood of Blackwood Industries," the assistant whispered urgently.

"Remove him," Alexander ordered coldly, not bothering with formalities.

Before the assistant could act, Nathan had already shoved past him, looming over Evelyn like a thundercloud.

Evelyn blinked up in confusion, rubbing her eyes like a sleepy child. "Nathan? What are you—"

"Come with me." Nathan cut her off, seizing her wrist.

With effortless strength, he pulled her against his chest, his entire body vibrating with suppressed rage.

This woman had stolen his business deal by day, and now she was celebrating with some pretty-boy stranger? The hypocrisy burned in his throat.

"Let go of me!" Evelyn struggled as sobriety returned. "Why are you stalking me? Are you some kind of guard dog?"

"Evelyn, don't push me!" Nathan's fist clenched, veins standing out along his forearm.

Alexander moved like lightning, capturing Evelyn's other wrist.

Torn between them, Evelyn felt like a wishbone about to snap.

"Clearly Ms. Carter has no desire to leave with you," Alexander said icily. "Or do you make a habit of kidnapping women?"

"You know nothing about our relationship!" Nathan snarled, the vein in his forehead pulsing dangerously.

Alexander adjusted his glasses with one hand, his gaze turning razor-sharp. "If I'm a stranger, then what exactly are you to her?"

Their answers came simultaneously.

Nathan declared, "I'm her husband!"

Evelyn shouted, "He's my ex-husband!"
