Chapter 394
Leonard's voice was firm. "You must never let others decipher your thoughts through your eyes. That's extremely dangerous."
"I understand, Father."
Leonard pulled out his phone and initiated a video call to Nathan.
When Nathan answered, his face appeared on screen - cold, stern, and radiating displeasure.
Cassandra immediately clung tighter to Leonard's arm, making a show of their close relationship for Nathan's benefit.
Nathan completely ignored her display. "Why are you contacting me?" His voice was icy.
"Your sister has already negotiated terms with Isabella Wang. Now it's your turn to finalize the agreement." Leonard's tone brooked no argument. "Meet with Isabella immediately and sign the contract."
"We've already discussed this. There's no need for my involvement."
A sardonic smile played on Nathan's lips. "Congratulations in advance, Cassandra, for stealing such a major project from Ms. Carter. Since you're so brilliant and capable, you should handle this important signing yourself. I wouldn't dream of stealing your spotlight."
Cassandra's blood boiled with rage. Her eyes turned red from suppressing her fury.
Without Nathan's participation, Isabella Wang would never agree to work with the Blackwood Hotel.
"Nathan, Cassandra is your sister. She's worked hard to get this far. Can't you, as her elder brother, help her close this deal?" Leonard's voice deepened, his eyes flashing with anger.
"Whether this project succeeds or fails is Cassandra's responsibility. There's no such thing as sharing the hardship but keeping all the glory for oneself."
Leonard was livid. "Nathan!"
"If you're truly concerned about resolving this, perhaps you should meet Isabella Wang yourself. Surely the chairman of Blackwood Industries can handle a mere celebrity?"
The screen went black.
Nathan had ended the call without giving them a chance to respond.
Meanwhile, the Montgomery family faced their own troubles.
Eleanor Montgomery had been competing fiercely with Victor Whitmore's daughter, Giselle Whitmore, for the jewelry charity auction. Eleanor had nearly secured an agreement with Theodore Windsor's team, but yesterday she received shocking news - Theodore had chosen Giselle instead.
All her recent efforts had been wasted. The disappointment left her unable to eat.
Isabelle Montgomery watched this unfold with growing resentment.
She knew exactly why Theodore had changed his mind - he was taking revenge on Evelyn Carter's behalf.
Furious, Isabelle retreated to her room and called her frenemy, Cassandra.
"I'm in a terrible mood. Let's go drinking at my brother's club tonight."
"Ugh, same here."
Cassandra vented about Isabella Wang refusing to sign with her. "Even though we stopped Isabella from working with Evelyn, I didn't gain anything from it. How infuriating!"
"Hmph! Don't worry. Isabella Wang just can't admit she made the wrong choice. She'll come around soon enough."
Isabelle strolled into her walk-in closet, running her fingers through racks of designer gowns. In a lazy drawl, she asked, "So much has happened recently, and I've had to endure it all. Cassandra, can't you arrange something... entertaining to cheer me up?"
Cassandra froze for a heartbeat.
Then understanding dawned, and a wicked smile curved her lips. "Don't worry. I'll definitely make sure you enjoy yourself tonight!"
