Chapter 50

Dominic's photo was discovered on the Supreme Court's official website three years prior.

In the image, he stood tall in his ceremonial robes, delivering a passionate argument in court. His piercing gaze and commanding presence made him impossible to ignore.

Nathan had developed a sophisticated facial recognition software that could retrieve someone's full profile within minutes—far more efficient than conventional search engines.

Yet, when he uploaded Dominic's picture, the search took an unusually long ten minutes.

This suggested one thing: Dominic Kingsley rarely appeared in public and kept his personal life strictly off social media.

If he was just a prosecutor, why the secrecy?

Sebastian Kingsley. Dominic Kingsley.

Nathan's mind raced. Then, realization struck like lightning. His breath hitched.

Could it be...?

No.

His jaw clenched, knuckles whitening as his grip tightened. A storm brewed behind his darkening expression.

Evelyn Carter. How could you?

First, you run straight to Sebastian after our divorce. Now, you're entangled with his brother? Who do you think you are?

The roar of an engine shattered his thoughts.

He turned sharply toward the window.

A sleek black sports car blurred past him.

Evelyn's car.

Why was she here?

Something wasn't right.

His pulse spiked. He slammed a fist against the window.

"Oliver! Follow that car!"

Meanwhile, reporters swarmed the hotel entrance as investigators struggled to escort the disgraced Damian Sterling into a waiting vehicle.

The press conference had ended in chaos.

Dominic didn't follow the investigators. Instead, he slipped out the back, waiting for his sister.

Minutes later, a Bugatti La Voiture Noire pulled up.

Theodore lowered the window with a polite smile. "Mr. Dominic."

"Hey, Theo!"

Dominic leaned in, his gaze softening as he took in Evelyn in the passenger seat. He reached out, pinching her cheek affectionately.

"Theo's been feeding you well, huh? You're getting chubby."

Evelyn swatted his hand away, pouting. "I am not!"

"You are. And it's adorable." He grinned.

Dominic had zero tact. No wonder he was still single at thirty.

From the shadows, Nathan watched, misinterpreting their playful banter as something far more intimate.

His expression darkened. His fists trembled.

Oliver glanced nervously at the rearview mirror, swallowing hard.

Of course the young madam has admirers. She's brilliant and stunning. Only my boss was blind enough to let her go.

"So?" Dominic preened. "How cool was I today?"

"Very," Evelyn teased, resting her arms on the window. "You're trending online. Half the women in the country are searching for you."

Her eyes sparkled with admiration, her smile radiant.

Nathan's chest tightened.

He wanted to be the one she looked at like that.

He had never seen her smile at him that way.

Dominic scoffed. "I don't care about them. I just want my little sister's approval."

Evelyn laughed. "Ugh, stop. You're better at playing the cool brother, not the sappy one."

Their laughter faded as the conversation turned serious.

"Dominic, I'll need your help with the next steps."

Evelyn's expression hardened. "Make sure Damian doesn't get off easy."

"Don't worry. He's looking at three years minimum. No bail. No reduced sentence."

Dominic gave her an approving nod. "You did well, Evie. You predicted his every move. If all criminals were this predictable, my job would be easier."

Damian had walked right into her trap.

The reason Monarch Group's lawsuit succeeded was because Vincent Prescott had finally come forward as a witness, exposing Damian's embezzlement scheme.

Nathan's lips curled into a bitter sneer.

Evelyn Carter, you're playing a dangerous game.
