Chapter 262
Sebastian's piercing gaze darkened as he studied Evelyn with newfound intensity.
His little sister had always been ruthlessly opportunistic, playing by her own rules.
Give her the slightest opening, and she'd flip the entire gameboard on its unsuspecting players.
Dominic Reeves' face went deathly pale. He never anticipated Evelyn would uncover this particular secret!
"Your reaction tells me everything," Evelyn stated coldly, her lips curling in derision.
"I... I do know," Dominic stammered, his throat bobbing nervously. His voice shook as he admitted, "Because that... child... is mine and Victoria's."
Both Kingsley siblings froze in shock.
Evelyn's delicate fingers clenched in triumph. Her risky gamble had paid off spectacularly.
"Explain. Now." Sebastian's voice cut through the air like shards of ice.
Dominic swallowed hard before continuing, "I used to work as a personal trainer at an exclusive gym in Silvercrest. Victoria became my client, and... things escalated. She was incredibly seductive, always initiating things. Eventually we started an affair."
Evelyn arched a brow. "Continue."
"It was always understood to be casual. Victoria had other men, and I was just one of them. Then one night we... experimented with substances. She was high, we didn't use protection..." Dominic wiped his sweaty brow. "Even though she took emergency contraception, it's not foolproof. Soon after, she discovered she was pregnant."
Evelyn's eyes gleamed with dark amusement. How fascinating - the pristine Victoria Sterling had a drug habit. The revelations kept coming.
"Given Victoria's ruthless nature, why didn't she terminate?" Evelyn pressed.
Dominic shifted uncomfortably. "She claimed her reproductive system was too fragile. Said she'd never conceive again if she aborted. That no elite family would accept an infertile wife." His mouth twisted bitterly. "So she carried to term."
The mention of children sent a sharp pang through Evelyn, but she schooled her features into icy composure. "Where is the child now?"
"I only know she's at an orphanage in southern Silvercrest. She'd be about three now... That's all I know!" Dominic confessed desperately.
The man clearly had no paternal instincts, having never once visited his own daughter. He was sweating bullets trying to recall even these scant details.
"You're disgusting," Sebastian spat with barely contained fury. "Your own flesh and blood, abandoned like garbage?"
"W-wait! Victoria's mother has been secretly monitoring the girl! She took the baby immediately after birth. That woman would know where she is!" Dominic blurted, eager to avoid further punishment.
Evelyn's eyes flashed with sudden determination as she exchanged a meaningful glance with Sebastian. In that silent moment, the siblings reached perfect understanding.
Just then, the basement door burst open. A security guard hurried in clutching Dominic's ringing phone.
"Miss Kingsley, urgent call," he announced.
Evelyn glanced at the screen with disdain. "Who's Adrienne?"
Dominic paled further. "That's... Victoria."
"Answer it," Evelyn commanded, thrusting the phone toward him. Her gaze turned glacial. "No warnings. No hints. Act completely normal."
Trembling, Dominic nodded like a chastened dog.
He accepted the call. "Adrienne. Calling so late? Miss me?"
"Don't flatter yourself." Victoria's voice dripped with condescension. "You haven't done anything stupid, have you? I told you to wait for my signal. You haven't screwed up, right?"
Dominic's jaw clenched. "No, I've done nothing. Just waiting for your orders."
Evelyn's lips curved into a dangerous smile as she lowered her lashes, the perfect picture of deceptive calm.
