Chapter 263
Sebastian had taken matters into his own hands. He made a move against Evelyn without Victoria's knowledge.
This reckless action landed them in their current crisis because he desperately needed money. He hoped to quickly resolve the situation to claim his reward from Victoria.
What a treacherous ally!
Victoria's voice turned icy through the phone. "Don't lay a finger on Evelyn until I give explicit orders. The situation has improved now that I've regained Nathan's trust. Leonard has even approved our marriage, so our engagement announcement should happen soon."
Dominic thought, Engagement?
His worried eyes darted toward his sister. Evelyn remained impassive. She casually stretched, her eyelids drooping with boredom. Dominic couldn't suppress a smirk at his sister's indifferent reaction.
"Now that you and Nathan are reconciled, what about my $5 million?" Sebastian demanded impatiently.
Victoria snapped, "Must you be so insistent about such petty cash? I'll transfer $50,000 immediately. Spend it however you like. Once Nathan and I finalize everything and complete the engagement ceremony, you'll get the remaining balance."
"Do you still want me to deal with Evelyn?" Sebastian asked.
"Make sure she suffers," Victoria hissed, venom dripping from every word. "That woman has made my existence unbearable. I want her remaining days filled with unending torment. Even if I can't break her limbs, I'll ruin that perfect face of hers!"
The call ended, leaving Sebastian visibly shaken by Victoria's malice. In stark contrast, Evelyn remained composed, demonstrating extraordinary emotional control.
"You've performed adequately. I'll contact you if needed," Evelyn stated calmly.
Just then, Evelyn's phone buzzed. Theodore was calling. She answered while turning to exit the underground chamber.
As Evelyn departed, the atmosphere grew heavy. Sebastian's eyes bulged in terror as Dominic advanced toward him.
Dominic radiated an otherworldly chill, as though he'd emerged from the underworld itself.
He slowly crouched down, his movements deliberate.
From his suit jacket, he produced a silver dagger shaped like a cross. Its blade caught the dim basement light, glinting ominously. The weapon hovered near Sebastian's throat, threatening decapitation at any moment.
Though Dominic remained still, Sebastian trembled violently, as if facing Death himself.
"My sister's injury," Dominic said quietly, "was your doing."
"I-I'm sorry," Sebastian stammered.
Dominic shook his head, closing his eyes in prayer. "Merciful Father, forgive my sins. All I do is for those I love."
A bloodcurdling scream soon echoed through the dungeon as Dominic severed the tendons in Sebastian's wrist.
Outside in the empty field, Theodore stood waiting alone. His normally handsome features appeared gaunt and pale with exhaustion.
"Theodore, what's wrong?" Evelyn asked with concern, noting his pallid complexion.
Theodore gazed at Evelyn with sorrow-filled eyes. His voice shook as he whispered, "Ms. Carter... I'm so sorry..."
