Chapter 470

Evelyn pressed her hands over her ears. "I don't want to hear this. Make it stop."

Nathan stood frozen, speechless.

Camille had a bitter feud with Penelope. If not for that woman, Camille would never have abandoned her dazzling career at its peak.

The sudden sound of Lillian's icy voice made Evelyn and Nathan jump with startled screams.

"Good heavens, Lillian! Must you always appear like a ghost?" Evelyn clutched her chest dramatically.

Evelyn never acted coy around Harrison, but with Lillian, she transformed into an adorable pouting child.

"Aunt Lillian, what brings you here so late? I wasn't expecting you." Nathan exhaled slowly, relieved it wasn't Camille who'd overheard them.

"I've been standing here since your conversation began. Your voices carried quite clearly."

Lillian glanced outside before shutting the door firmly and approaching them. "There's no use keeping secrets now, Evelyn. Nathan's old enough to know the truth."

Nathan eagerly grasped Lillian's chilled fingers, waiting with bated breath.

"Consumed by jealousy over Camille's talent and fame, Penelope systematically sabotaged her at every turn."

"Despite Camille's immense popularity, she faced constant bullying and marginalization at the network. Then came the final blow - she was drugged and publicly humiliated at a major event."

Lillian took a shuddering breath to steady herself before recounting the painful history in a detached tone.

Evelyn sighed deeply. Normally so talkative, she remained uncharacteristically silent.

"D-Drugged?"

Nathan's throat constricted as she rasped out the question, "Was Aunt Camille-"

"Not that kind of drug."

Lillian's voice broke as she whispered, "It was a neurological disruptor. Banned in Serenia now, but back then it circulated freely in entertainment circles. A recreational substance with devastating health effects."

Both women paled, eyes glistening with unshed tears.

As heiress to the Hartwell pharmaceutical empire, Lillian possessed encyclopedic knowledge of medical substances.

"What happened then?" Nathan squeezed Lillian's hands urgently.

"During a live network special, while performing on stage... she suffered a very public loss of bodily control."

Lillian's eyes swam with tears.

"Damn it!" Fury propelled Evelyn to smash her fist through the vanity mirror.

Nathan trembled violently, holding her breath.

Though two decades had passed, Nathan could viscerally feel Camille's devastating humiliation.

Camille had possessed everything - fame, adoration, brilliance.

Yet her beloved stage became the site of her deepest trauma, forever stealing her confidence and charisma.

"How can you be certain Penelope orchestrated this, Aunt Lillian?" Nathan forced herself to ask calmly.

"Harrison and I uncovered substantial evidence, but nothing concrete enough to legally implicate Penelope."

Lillian shook her head regretfully. "Penelope relentlessly targeted Camille while maintaining an... unusually close relationship with the network director."

"Camille endured hell at GSN, trapped by an ironclad contract. Her only option was endurance. Later we discovered Penelope had instructed her agent to procure the illegal substance before the network special. Yet without definitive proof..."

"That's enough for me."

Nathan closed her eyes. When they reopened, they burned crimson. "If I believe she's guilty, that's evidence enough."
