Chapter 270

Under Chairman Kingsley's careful orchestration, Evelyn's blind dates were arranged with military precision.

Evelyn applied her ridiculous makeup in the powder room while Theodore waited outside, scrolling through his tablet to review the day's itinerary.

"11:30 a.m. luncheon with Mr. Chamberlain from Whitmore Enterprises. 1:30 p.m. tea with the heir of Sterling Holdings. 3:30 p.m. private opera box with the youngest son of Luxe Furnishings."

"Two hours each? How efficient." Evelyn rolled her eyes. Even cattle at auction get more time to make an impression, she thought bitterly.

The bathroom door swung open with dramatic flair. When Evelyn emerged in full disguise, Theodore's professional composure shattered into laughter.

"Ms. Carter, you've truly... outdone yourself." Theodore struggled to speak through his giggles.

She'd transformed into a walking catastrophe - fake freckles dotted her cheeks beneath a tangled bird's nest wig. A smudged "mustache" adorned her upper lip. Leaning against the doorframe with one finger digging in her nose, she looked like a rejected circus clown.

"Think this is enough? I was considering adding some realistic scars!" Evelyn grinned, flashing her deliberately blackened tooth.

Theodore, normally the picture of professional restraint, clutched his stomach as laughter overtook him. Evelyn seized the moment to snap a selfie and bombard the Kingsley Intelligence Network group chat.

The response was instantaneous.

[Sebastian: I beg your pardon. Who let this creature into our chat?]

[Evelyn: Hey handsome! Care to take a wild guess?]

[Maxwell: dying laughing emoji Evelyn, this is absolute gold!]

[Dominic: Jesus Christ! Nearly gave me a heart attack before my morning coffee! Almost spilled my latte all over my case files!]

[Donovan: Darling, even for cosplay, couldn't you choose something more... flattering?]

[Maxwell: Why not go as Ophelia? I'll play Hamlet! We can recreate the famous drowning scene!]

Maxwell flooded the chat with romantic GIFs, which Dominic countered with violent reaction images. Though separated by Maxwell's covert operations, their sibling rivalry knew no bounds.

[Evelyn: Gentlemen, as connoisseurs of the fairer sex, what are my chances of landing a husband looking like this?]

[Dominic: Negative 100%!]

[Sebastian: True beauty lies within one's character, not their appearance. Any worthy man would recognize your exceptional qualities, dear sister.]

[Donovan: Facial recognition was never my strong suit, but I know brilliance when I see it. These men would be fortunate to know you, disguise notwithstanding.]

[Maxwell: Honestly? I'm more of a legs man myself. winking emoji Dominic, as a public official, shouldn't you be more open-minded?]

[Dominic: Oh please! Since when did you become the morality police?!]

Evelyn's laughter echoed through the penthouse as she read their responses. Dominic's brutal honesty would be his downfall one day, she mused.

[Evelyn: Wish me luck! First victim arrives in twenty minutes.]

[Sebastian: May divine providence smile upon you and your unfortunate suitor.]

[Dominic: Evelyn, if some trust fund baby actually falls for this look, marry him immediately. That level of poor judgment suggests he's perfect for our family!]

[Evelyn: Oh darling, if anyone proposes today, I'm gifting them a lifetime membership to Kingsley Medical Center - they'll clearly need the psychiatric care!]

Meanwhile, Theodore's phone vibrated incessantly. While Evelyn adjusted her hideous wig, he checked the barrage of private messages from all four Kingsley brothers. The content varied only slightly.

[Kingsley Brothers: Keep eyes on Evelyn. Any problems, you call us immediately.]

[Theodore: Understood. Her safety is my top priority.]

[Kingsley Brothers: Who said we're worried about her? We're concerned for the poor bastards she's meeting!]

Theodore smirked. The family resemblance was uncanny.

And so Evelyn's disastrous matchmaking marathon began.

Ever the pragmatist, Evelyn decided to treat this as a surgical strike - eliminate all targets in one day. To her astonishment, despite her deliberately repulsive appearance, each wealthy bachelor remained impeccably polite. Their unflappable composure in the face of her absurdity was almost... suspicious.
