Chapter 309

The storm had finally passed.

Evelyn's clever manipulation of Dominic Reeves had set off a chain reaction that completely dismantled the Sterling Corporation.

Though Blackwood Industries suffered collateral damage, Nathan hadn't married Victoria yet. Most saw him as a victim rather than a fool in this twisted game.

In the general manager's office, Evelyn idly played a video game while Theodore peeled grapes for her, updating her on recent developments.

"Mr. Raymond mentioned that Margaret is going to trial soon," Theodore said, placing a juicy grape between her lips. "No reputable lawyer will take her case—the evidence is overwhelming. She's looking at twenty years, at least."

Evelyn swallowed the grape, licking her lips with satisfaction. "Mmm, so sweet!"

Theodore smiled. She was the sweet one.

"He should've called me himself," Evelyn sighed, shaking her head. "Raymond always overthinks things."

Her youngest brother, Raymond, was just like Arabella—too considerate, too burdened by their family name.

Despite being only three years older than Evelyn, Raymond had always doted on her as much as Sebastian, Dominic, Maxwell, and Donovan.

"Mr. Raymond has his insecurities," Theodore observed. "He doesn’t want to smother you."

Evelyn scoffed. "He’s family. To me, he’s no different from the others."

"Oh, and Dominic Reeves is in lockup now," Theodore added, his expression darkening. "Mr. Dominic and Mr. Raymond made sure to arrest several loan sharks and casino thugs to keep him company."

Evelyn smirked. "How thoughtful. I’ll cook them a feast tomorrow as thanks."

"The Sterlings’ debts are nearly cleared," Theodore continued.

Evelyn’s fingers paused mid-air. "Nathan paid them off? How generous of him."

"Not Nathan. Penelope."

Evelyn’s lips pursed.

"That’s odd," Theodore mused. "Victoria’s reputation is ruined—she’s useless to Penelope now. Why would she bail them out?"

"Victoria must have dirt on her," Evelyn said, eyes glinting. "After years of scheming together, do you really think Victoria doesn’t know Penelope’s secrets? Penelope had no choice."

Theodore fed her another grape. "Victoria left her father in the hospital and fled the country. She didn’t even care about her daughter. I followed your instructions—the girl’s in one of Monarch Group’s sponsored orphanages now."

"What a pity," Evelyn murmured.

"Pity?"

"That Victoria and Nathan didn’t marry. They deserve each other."

As she exited the game, a friend request popped up—a high-level player named Rose.

Evelyn didn’t think much of it. As the top-ranked Lucifer, she got dozens of requests daily. But the name Rose caught her eye.

She accepted.
