Chapter 473

Nathan Blackwood inhaled sharply.

Evelyn Carter's words sliced through him like a razor.

Though Tristan Moreau hailed from a different country, he held deep reverence for his mentor and craft. He would never betray his principles for personal gain.

Evelyn smirked. "You miscalculated, Ms. Montgomery. Your first mistake was assuming everyone is as small-minded as you."

The pettiest person in the room was obvious.

Nathan's lips twitched faintly. His gaze remained steady.

Humiliation burned through Julian Montgomery.

He had braced himself for Evelyn's sharp tongue, but the sting of her words still caught him off guard.

"You're cruel, Evelyn!"

Isabelle Montgomery jabbed a finger at Evelyn's composed face. "You played dumb when I approached Tristan. You knew Cassandra would hand the necklace to Isabella, yet you waited until the charity auction to expose everything!"

Her voice cracked. "All this just to ruin Cassandra. How heartless can you be? Must you destroy everyone who crosses you?"

Isabelle's dramatic wails painted her as the victim.

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "What was I supposed to do—let you and Cassandra keep scheming?"

"You—!" Isabelle choked on her fury.

The woman was fearless.

Despite Nathan and Julian's presence, Evelyn didn’t hold back. Did she care about no man’s opinion?

"You came to apologize, Ms. Montgomery, not to accuse," Nathan interjected, his voice low but firm. "Is admitting your mistake truly so difficult?"

He lifted his gaze to Evelyn. "Even if Ms. Kingsley doesn’t deal with Cassandra, I will. I’ll ensure you get your justice, whether your brother intervenes or not. The outcome remains unchanged. What more do you have to say?"

Evelyn met his eyes, emotions swirling.

Nathan wasn’t shielding Isabelle.

Tsk. Evelyn decided his actions were none of her concern.

"Nathan..." Tears spilled down Isabelle’s cheeks, her heartache and rage warring within her.

The man who once held her hand under golden sunlight in the park was now a stranger, his warmth replaced by icy detachment.

Ensnared by Evelyn, Nathan had become a shadow of himself.

"Well?" Evelyn tapped her fingers impatiently. "Are you apologizing or wasting my time?"

"Do it, Isabelle," Julian urged.

"I’m sorry," Isabelle hissed through clenched teeth, barely audible.

"Louder," Evelyn commanded.

"I’M SORRY!"

Julian gripped Isabelle’s shoulders, forcing her into a stiff bow.

Humiliation seared through her.

Evelyn, I swear you’ll pay for this!

"Theodore," Evelyn stood.

"Yes, Ms. Carter?" Theodore Winslow responded instantly.

"As Mr. Montgomery stated, the Montgomery Group will handle the fallout of Ms. Montgomery’s actions. Compile a full damage report—including emotional distress—for his immediate review."
