Chapter 355

Right then, Eleanor stepped through the door.

Her eyes hardened as she took in the sight of Nolan and Elora entangled on the couch, disappointment etched plainly across her face.

So this was the big, urgent news Nolan had to share with her?

It definitely qualified as significant, just not in the way she expected.

Flustered like never before, Nolan scrambled away from Elora, cheeks burning. "Eleanor, wait! It's not what you think!"

Elora quickly rose from the sofa as well. "Please don't blame Nolan, Eleanor. This was all my doing."

But Eleanor wanted nothing to do with the chaos. She turned her back on both of them and walked right out the door.

Nolan started after her, but Elora suddenly bolted for the balcony as if overcome by hysteria. A spike of panic shot through Nolan, and he lunged, catching her by the arm just in time.

Had he hesitated, Elora might have done something reckless.

Meanwhile, Eleanor was already outside, putting distance between herself and everything that had just unfolded.

A cold breeze swept past, but it couldn't compare to the cold disappointment settling in her chest.

Was there actually something going on between the two of them just now?

Still, knowing how cunning Elora could be, Eleanor couldn't shake the suspicion that this entire scene was orchestrated.

Not that it made a difference to her anymore.

A wry, almost mocking smile tugged at Eleanor's lips.

Clearly, the chance she had given Nolan was never going to happen..

Once the shock faded, Nolan was swept up in pure panic.

Eleanor must have gotten the wrong idea. He had to catch up to her, no matter what.

Without wasting another second, Nolan pulled Elora firmly back inside the penthouse and instructed the staff, "Don't let her out of your sight. Make sure she doesn't try anything dangerous."

Then, without looking back, he rushed out and sped straight to the Benton family's residence.

Instead of a welcome, however, Nolan was met with Jeff's biting remark.

"Nolan, shouldn't you be spending time with your fiancée? What brings you here to see my family when you already have so much on your plate? Or do you think breaking my daughter's heart isn't enough for one night?"

Just them, Hilda appeared right behind Jeff, her usal warmth replaced by utter disappointment.

Desperation colored Nolan's words as he spoke. "Jeff,Hilda, you've got it all wrong. Please, just hear me out -"

Yet Jeff cut him off before he could say another word."Save it. You're already engaged, so there's no reason for you to keep showing up here for Eleanor. And if that's what you came for, don't bother, she's not home yet." Without waiting for a reply, Jeff led Hilda into the living room, not even glancing back at Nolan.

Wasting no time, Nolan turned away from the Benton family's residence and rushed toward the Hope House.

He knew it was where Eleanor often went to clear her head when she was upset.

But when he arrived, Myah met him at the door and quickly set him straight that Eleanor hadn't been there at all.

So where on earth could she have gone?

Slamming his fist against the steering wheel, Nolan was overwhelmed by helplessness and frustration.

After sitting there for several seconds, he forced himself to get it together, pulled out his phone, and called Erick. "Check the security cameras at Podium Apartments for any footage of Elora from tonight onward."

Erick, sensing the urgency in Nolan's voice, didn't hesitate."Understood!"
