Chapter 388

While Eleanor worked in the Enigma store, she remained blissfully unaware of everything happening at home.

She poured all her attention into her latest sketches, completely lost in her own world.

From the other side of the glass door,Lillian and Besty exchanged worried glances as they observed her.

Both of them wondered if maybe their concern was unfounded, since Eleanor seemed so calm and collected.

The memory of Elora's behavior at the signing event still lingered in Lillian's mind, and frustration bubbled up inside her.

Determined to get to the bottom of things, she told Besty to keep Eleanor company, planning to head out and find out what was going on at the hospital.

With a serious nod, Besty agreed to keep an eye on Eleanor.

Lillian reached for the door, but the second she stepped outside, she bumped into someone. She jumped in surprise.

When she saw Ryland's face, her suspicion quickly faded.

"So,what are you doing skulking around here?" Lillian asked, eyeing him closely

Ryland's shoulders slumped as he gestured helplessly at the locked door.

Because of Nolan, Besty had blocked his number again.

Now, not only could he not reach her by phone, but he was also barred from coming inside the store.

The first chance he got to see Besty, he tried to sneak a look, only to run straight into Lillian.

She frowned at the desperate look in his eyes.

Even so, she refused to get sidetracked by his hopeless love life.

"Look, we have bigger problems than your drama.Let's head to the hospital and see what's happening with Elora. Are you coming?" she said.

Ryland nodded in agreement, quickly pulling himself together.

Without wasting any more time, they hurried out the door and made their way to the hospital. When they arrived, Fannie stepped out to pick up Elora's medication from the pharmacy.

Meanwhile, Elora lay on her hospital bed, her face pale as she stared at the ceiling.

Suddenly,her phone vibrated.

She glanced at the screen to see Ady's name.

"Nicely done," Ady said, her voice low over the phone.

Elora let out a shaky breath as relief flickered across her face.

Knowing Ady approved gave her a sense of hope-her entire future hinged on that call.

Ady's tone sharpened in an instant. "Just faking a pregnancy won't cut it. You need to make it real. You slept with Nolan, right? So why haven't you gotten pregnant yet?"

A surge of panic seized Elora, sweat collecting on her palms.

Of course, nothing actually happened with Nolan that day, but admitting the truth was out of the question.

"I... I really don't know," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Ady dismissed her hesitation with indifference. Results were all that mattered.

"You need to get Nolan to marry you. Do whatever it takes. The more scandal you stir up, the harder it'll be for him to back out," Ady said.

Just as the weight of those words settled, the hospital door swung open.

Lillian strode in with Ryland close behind.

Elora's heart nearly leaped out of her chest.Instinctively, she cut the call short.

Lillian's stare was piercing and unyielding.

It sounded like she had caught pieces of Elora's conversation-words like "pregnant" and "marry you".

"Who were you on the phone with just now?" Lillian asked, her voice cold and suspicious.

Elora's hands trembled as she scrambled for a lie."Just the maid. She wanted to know what I'd like for dinner," she replied, forcing a casual tone.

Lillian was unmoved, her expression unchanged.

Ryland raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. There was no way a simple call from the help would send Elora into such a panic.

Their relentless stares made Elora's skin prickle with discomfort.

A moment later, Fannie returned with the medicine, pausing in the doorway as she took in the tense scene.

Her brow furrowed in confusion. "Lillian, whatbrigs you here?"
