Chapter 406
The following morning at ten, the Stewart Group's press conference unfolded precisely as planned within their grand headquarters.
The expansive venue, designed to accommodate hundreds, brimmed with attendees, every seat occupied.
Virtually every media outlet in Elepdon had descended upon the scene, their cameras and equipment poised, all eyes riveted on the podium.
A low hum of anticipation rippled through the reporters, their whispered exchanges nearly lifting the rafters with excitement.
Suddenly, a commanding figure appeared at the entrance.
Nolan, clad in an impeccably tailored black suit, strode in with a steely expression, his presence casting an immediate hush over the room.
Every gaze locked onto him.
Accompanied by Erick, Nolan approached the podium with measured steps. Once settled,he exchanged a subtle glance with Erick, who promptly inserted a USB drive into the laptop before him.
The massive projection screen behind them flickered to life.
The first image to emerge was a crisp,high-definition photograph of a swimsuit.
This was followed by a test report from a prestigious institution, its bold red letters starkly declaring that the dress was laced with a potent sedative.
The media below erupted, their murmurs swelling like a pot brought to a boil.
Before the clamor could settle, another report flashed across the screen, detailing the sedative's effects.
One line, magnified to dominate the display, read,"This drug temporarily inhibits all sexual function in men."
The hall exploded into chaos.
It became clear that Elora had previously drugged Nolan, and nothing had occurred between them.
Yet this revelation only underscored her failed scheme;it did not conclusively disprove that the child she claimed to carry wasn't Nolan's. As the crowd braced to fire questions, the screen shifted once more.
This time, it revealed Elora's shopping records, prominently featuring a substantial purchase of progesterone hormones.
Beside it, a medical explanation clarified that this hormone could artificially alter HCG levels, creating the illusion of pregnancy.
The truth landed like a thunderbolt. Elora had never been pregnant.
Her entire narrative was a meticulously crafted deception, with Nolan as the unwitting victim.
The hall buzzed with fervent discussion.
"What a bombshell! We've all been duped!"
"Elora's cunning knows no bounds-she faked a pregnancy!"
"Nolan took her in out of kindness, and she turned on him! What a viper!"
Amid the uproar, a sharp-witted reporter leapt to her feet, her voice cutting through the room."Mr.Stewart,what are your plans for Elora? She was like a sister to you. Will you show her leniency?" Nolan lifted his gaze, locking eyes with the camera directly ahead. "This is a private matter for the family, and I would prefer to keep it out of the public eye.I won't be addressing this issue further."
His resolute tone silenced the room, and the reporters, sensing his resolve, refrained from pressing him.
Yet their curiosity quickly found a new focus.
"Mr. Stewart, with this misunderstanding cleared, is there any happy news regarding you and Eleanor?"
The crowd's thoughts drifted to the lavish proposal from days prior. With the obstacles now removed,a wedding seemed imminent.
To their surprise, Nolan's lips curved into a wry, bittersweet smile as he gently shook his head. "She is no longer speaking to me. Due to this ordeal, I'll have to win her heart all over again."
The reporters exchanged glances, their smiles tinged with awkwardness, opting not to probe further.
With that, the press conference drew to a close.
Before her television, Ady sat thunderstruck, her breath catching in her throat. Elora, more a liability than an asset, had been thoroughly unmasked!
In a surge of fury, Ady hurled her glass to the floor, the shards scattering as she gasped for air. She had been tantalizingly close to victory, mere steps from claiming control!
Defeat was a bitter pill she refused to swallow-never would she yield!
Her chest rose and fell with fierce intensity, her eyes alight with seething rage as she clenched her fists tightly.
"Curse you, Nolan! You've backed me into a corner!Don't dare blame me when I strike back through your grandfather!"
