Chapter 434
In no time, the once-crowded conference room was nearly empty, leaving only a few behind.
Colson collapsed into his chair, his spirit crushed.
He couldn't bring himself to believe it. He had truly lost.
Brodie stood stiff as a statue, his face pale.
Just moments ago, the shareholders had stood with them, smiling and nodding. How could they turn their backs so fast?
Nolan walked over, stopping right beside them, a cold smile curling on his lips.
"Schemes built on deceit never last," he said evenly.
Then he leaned close to Colson's ear, his voice low enough for only them to hear. "You haven't even tasted the worst of it yet."
With that, he strode out with long, steady steps.
Erick followed, casually shutting the door behind them. The slam snapped Brodie back to his senses.
He turned to Colson in panic. "Dad! What do we do now?"
Colson's eyes darkened at once. "Go to your mother. She'll know what to do."
Brodie grabbed onto those words like a lifeline, nodding quickly. "Yes, Mom! She'll definitely think of something!"
The two exchanged a look before hurrying out of the room and heading back to the hotel.
In a lavish presidential suite, Ady lounged with a face mask on, waiting to hear their victory.
But when she saw them return in such a sorry state, her heart sank. She shot up from the sofa. "What happened?"
Colson dropped heavily onto the sofa, too drained to speak.
Brodie slumped beside her, his voice low and miserable. "Mom, we lost."
Ady froze, her head buzzing.
She shoved Brodie aside and stared at Colson, her voice trembling. "Tell me everything!" Colson finally raised his head, his tone hoarse as he explained the whole ordeal.
When he finished, Ady's brows furrowed.
Ghost was supposed to be unbeatable.
Could Nolan really have someone stronger behind him?
That wretched boy-how did fortune always favor him?
The more she thought, the hotter her rage burned. She grabbed a glass from the table and hurled it to the floor.
It shattered with a sharp crash, shards scattering across the room.
Brodie jumped, his tears drying at once.
He tugged nervously at her sleeve. "Mom,what do we do now?"
Her heart ached at his frightened tone, though anger still simnmered inside her.
She forced herself to calm down, gently patting his head. "Don't worry, sweetheart. At worst, we'll sell our shares. With that money, we can live in comfort anywhere."
It wasn't the dream she had planned, but at least it promised a secure life. But Brodie shook his head fiercely. "No! I want to be CEO of Stewart Group!"
He had never dared to imagine it before.
But now, with shares in hand, the dream blazed inside him.
He wanted the title.
He wanted the power.
He wanted to see Nolan kneel at his feet.
Ady studied the fire in his eyes and sighed.
Nothing she said could sway him.
His stubbornness was a mirror of her own.
At last, she softened and patted his shoulder. "Alright,I understand. I'll find another way for you."
She had spent years weaving her plans. She wasn't about to let it all slip through her fingers now.
Her heart hardened with resolve. Nolan would fall.
