Chapter 33

Finding that Laura had secretly pulled the strings against her, Amelia felt her frustration simmer beneath the surface.

She had always shown Laura respect and courtesy, never expecting to be sabotaged by her.

When she thought about the self-doubt she had experienced over the past few days, her hand holding the cup shook slightly.

"Everything okay, Amelia?"

The sound of Monroe's voice, heavy with worry, broke through her thoughts.

His concern gave her a quiet sense of comfort, making her calm down.

After she reassured Monroe that she was alright, she ended the call.

Right then, the sharp rap of knuckles against the window drew her gaze. She looked up to see Davin standing outside the window, with a car nearby.

The rear window of the car slid down, and Wyatt's familiar face appeared.

Inside the comfort of Wyatt's car, Amelia learned that the Stewart Group's headquarters was nearby.

"Miss Flynn, is there something important that brought you here today?"

Wyatt's deep voice filled the space between them as the car pulled away, his question revealing an unexpected trace of concern to Amelia.

Thinking about the scene earlier, Wyatt couldn't shake the ache that settled in his chest.

The person he cared deeply about, with reddened eyes, had brought coffee to her lips with a trembling hand. That was a sight he never wanted to see again. Something about Wyatt's steady presence made Amelia feel reassured.

Unable to hold back, she mentioned her failed job search but kept Laura's scheming to herself.

After Katrina's passing, Laura had been rather kind to her,and Amelia felt grateful for it.

However, after today, she felt she owed nothing to the Morrison family.

Wyatt, however, picked up on the missing pieces in her story. Everything he knew about Amelia told him she wouldn't be like this because of a difficult job search alone.

But since Amelia didn't wish to elaborate, he didn't press further.

It was only after Amelia finished speaking that she remembered an important matter: she was about to marry Wyatt.

If even the Morrison family wouldn't allow her to work, would the Stewart family permit it? Wyatt's quiet only heightened her worries. If he too expected her to stay home after marriage, would she be trapped as a housewife for life?

A heavy feeling crept over her when she thought about that.

Just then, Wyatt's voice cut through her anxiety with a gentle question. "Have you ever thought about working for the Stewart Group?"

Shock filled Amelia's eyes as she stared at the man beside her.

With a small cough, Wyatt continued, "Your achievements at Kretol University haven't gone unnoticed. If you're interested, the Stewart Group could use someone like you. In fact, I need a secretary, and there happens to be an opening."

From the front seat, Davin saw Wyatt's serious demeanor through the rearview mirror, and the corners of his mouth twitched.

Not once had Davin ever heard Wyatt mention needing a new secretary.

Wyatt's words brought a hint of delight to Amelia's eyes.

Landing a role at the Stewart Group was every job seeker's dream. Yet, as her excitement faded, Amelia felt a wave of hesitation.

Working as Wyatt's secretary would be no easy task, and with two years away from the workforce, her confidence wavered. Was she up for the task?

"Should you be interested, Miss Flynn, you're welcome to a month-long trial. At the end of your internship, whether you want to stay or not is entirely your choice," Wyatt said.

Some of Amelia's unease slipped away with that proposal. The last thing she wanted was for others to believe she'd coasted on family ties.

A trial period would give her a chance to prove herself, and time at the Stewart Group could only sharpen her skills, making it easier for her to take over and manage the Flynn Group in the future.

"Miss Flynn, the Stewart Group provides the best benefits in Kretol. Even during the trial period, the base salary for Mr. Stewart's secretary is twenty thousand, with triple pay for regular overtime and quintuple pay for holidays," Davin said.

"You talk too much," Wyatt scolded, but his glance at Davin carried a hint of approval, as if saying, "Well done."

Wyatt's mention of a trial period had already swayed Amelia's decision, and Davin's words only made her want to accept the offer more.

Considering the road ahead, Amelia decided to be honest."Mr.Stewart, after our marriage, I still want to keep working. Will you support that?"

"Miss Flynn, do you remember our conversation at Hillside Villa?" Wyatt said.

Without giving her a chance to reply, he added,"Marriage won't change your freedom.Whatever you choose, you'll always have my support."

That promise swept away the last of her worries.Amelia reached into her bag, pulled out her resume, and handed it to Wyatt with a cheerful grin. "Here you go, Mr. Stewart. This is my resume."

The Stewart Group's recruitment and HR matters were handled by dedicated staff, so Wyatt didn't need to deal with them personally.

It was the first time he had personally reviewed someone's resume, and he read it very carefully.

As Wyatt combed through her achievements, Amelia took out her certificates for him to see. Each one got his full attention.

On the surface, Wyatt remained calm, but inside, he was genuinely impressed. Amelia was truly exceptional.

Watching from the front, Davin saw the big pile of certificates and suddenly felt pressured himself.

Amelia waited, nerves fluttering, until Wyatt set aside the resume, turned to her, and reached out his hand with a warm smile. "Miss Flynn, I have great confidence in your abilities. You can join the Stewart Group."
