Chapter 91

May in Kretol brought a sultry edge to the air, even if summer had yet to fully arrive.

Tucked beneath a heavy blanket, Amelia battled the dampness of sweat on her skin. At the sound of Wyatt's voice, her eyelids sprang open.

Soft lamplight bathed the room, revealing Wyatt lounging against the headboard in jet-black silk pajamas.

A couple of undone buttons at the collar made his collarbone show.

He was smiling, and for a second, Amelia found herself momentarily entranced.

At that moment, the sight of him seemed almost unreal, her astonishment written plainly in her wide eyes.

Wyatt had always known he had a striking appearance, but it never meant much to him until he saw the look in Amelia's eyes, which somehow pleased him.

Their eyes met, and he arched a brow, his tone playful. "Does my face meet your approval?"

Those words jolted Amelia from her daze. The sly curve of his smile made her cheeks burn. Instinctively, she loosened her grip on the blanket, feeling his fingers graze her cheek in a feather-light touch.

She remembered his hand on her face before-once in the car. This time, though, it felt different.

Desire settled in his gaze, as though he couldn't help wanting to close the space between them.

"Amelia, may I kiss you now?"

As he spoke, his thumb swept over her lips, a shiver darting down her spine.

"If you don't answer, I'll take that as a yes."

Caught off guard by the question, Amelia could not find the words she needed. Wyatt did not wait for a reply and pressed his lips to hers.

He reached for the switch as he leaned in, turning off the bedside lamp and letting darkness fill the room.

In the dark, his kiss grew bolder, wrapping Amelia in sensation until all she knew was the closeness of him.

Her breath came faster, her chest tight. She tried to push him away, barely thinking, but he caught her hand and laced his fingers with hers.

He drew back and murmured, "Breathe through your nose, not your mouth."

His low voice lingered beside her ear. Another kiss followed.

Guided by his words, Amelia found her breath steadying.

Soft, tangled breaths echoed through the quiet room. When his hand rested gently at her waist, she instinctively grabbed his sleeve.

That simple reaction brought Wyatt to a sudden stop A hint of frustration at himself flickered in his eyes

Every bit of composure he prided himself on vanished the moment Amelia became involved.

Though Amelia wasn't entirely ready, she understood that Wyatt's actions were respectful and normal considering their relationship.

She was surprised by Wyatt's unexpected pause, searching his face for answers.

Though shadows kept his features hidden, Wyatt's gentle voice put her at ease. "That was my mistake.Take all the time you need to prepare yourself for this.I won't rush you." He eased down beside her and wrapped her in an embrace. "You have all the time you need to grow comfortable with me, with us. For now, just rest in my arms."

This brought Amelia comfort she had not anticipated.

Sleep seemed impossible while being held so close, but his cool scent soon eased her anxieties, pulling her toward slumber.

Eventually, her breathing settled into a peaceful rhythm. Wyatt, who had been pretending to sleep, quietly opened his eyes.

Her face was clear to him, even in the darkness. He pressed a soft kiss to her lips, then allowed himself to drift off.

Lying close together, neither moved. There was a rare kind of peace between them.

At the Morrison family's residence.

Although midnight had passed, lights blazed throughout the house.

The Morrison Group's partnership with the Stewart Group had been canceled. It had caused significant loss for the Morrison Group, sending shareholders into a panic.

Since Jaxton had taken on the Eastside Project without bringing other shareholders into the loop, their frustration found a target in him.

It wasn't until Santos intervened and promised to resolve the issue that the shareholders calmed down.

Shareholders made their demand clear: Santos must recover the lost investment, or they would call a meeting to strip Jaxton of his title as the CEO.

Tension seeped into every corner of the Morrison home. Jaxton, back from the hospital, considered bringing up the matter about Amelia and WVyatt, but the sight of Santos' cold expression made him bite his tongue.

Just then, Laura broke the silence, turning to both men. "There's only one thing left for us to do."
