Chapter 43

Ricky let Janessa's explanation settle, choosing to drop the subject of the jewelry for now. Instead, his mind circled around the mystery of Amelia's new social ties.

On his way out of the living room, he announced a new demand: Janessa would be responsible for submitting a full account of every household expense at the end of each month from now on.

Janessa put on a calm smile and nodded in agreement, but the second Ricky disappeared from her sight, she slammed her water glass onto the table. Fury sparked in her eyes as she glanced toward the doorway.

Kretol's wealthy wives seemed to bask in luxury, yet she stood out as the exception.

"How did Dad end up with the jewelry you sold,Mom?" Dayna asked. Not answering the question, Janessa snatched up her phone and dialed a number. "Has anyone visited Ricky at work today?"

"Miss Amelia Flynn visited him today," the voice on the other end of the line replied.

Janessa's eyes flashed with malice.

Realizing Amelia must have handed the jewelry to Ricky, Dayna immediately burst out with a curse.

Ricky, after stepping out of the house, first thought about talking to Amelia to get information about that influential figure. He then changed his mind moments later and told his assistant to investigate the matter.

At precisely nine the next morning, Amelia arrived at the.Stewart Group's main entrance.

Learning from her previous experience at the Flynn Group, she sent Davin a message in advance.

Settling into a seat in the lobby, she didn't have to wait long before Davin approached her. "Miss Flynn, sorry to keep you waiting. Let me take you to complete the onboarding process."

"Thank you so much."

"Don't mention it, Mss Flynn. Let me know if you run into any issues during your internship."

Knowing that in a matter of weeks Amelia would be his boss' wife made Davin eager to teat her with respect and care.

Amelia wanted to keep things under the radar, which was the whole reason she had texted Davin to help her with this. What she didn't realize was that Davin only listened to Wyatt when it came to matters inside the company.

So, when the receptionists saw Davin come to greet Amelia, they immediately spread the news in the company chat.

Soon, the whole company chat was buzzing about the mysterious new hire. Davin led Amelia upstairs in the CEO's private elevator. As they entered the CEO's office, Amelia saw Wyatt at work for the first time, looking serious and focused.

Dressed in a jet-black suit, with those gleaming silver cufflinks, Wyatt had a touch of aloof elegance.

When Davin made his quiet exit, the vast office suddenly felt even bigger, and Amelia found herself a bit nervous being alone with Wyatt here.

Wyatt's voice rumbled through the quiet office, drawing Amelia's attention. "Come here and sit down."

As soon as Amelia sat on the sofa, a glass of mango juice was placed in front of her.

The sweet, fruity aroma of mango drifted up,soothing her nerves in an instant.

"Your official role mnay be secretary, but I expect you to handle much more. Overtime could become a regular thing. Can you accept that?" Wyatt said. "That's completely fine with me," Amelia responded without a moment's hesitation to Wyatt's inquiry.

Determination had brought her to the Stewart Group. She was here to work and gain experience, not to enjoy any special favors.

Wyatt caught her steady gaze, and he smiled faintly."Relax. Whenever work feels too heavy, feel free to tell me."

Perhaps because they were in his office, their conversation was rather formal.

A soft knock at the door soon echoed, and Davin stepped inside, ready to escort Amelia to her office.

Amelia stood up, but Wyatt reached for her hand with a gentle, lingering touch to stop her.

His touch radiated warmth, sending a flutter through her heart.

Releasing her hand with care, Wyatt pressed the juice glass back into her grip. "Don't rush off just yet.Finish your drink first." Amelia downed the rest of the juice in one go, and without looking at Wyatt, she hurried out the door.

Wyatt watched her leave, his smile widening.

After exiting Wyatt's office, Amelia followed Davin down a sunlit hallway toward a room.

A gold-lettered sign marked the room as the "Administrative Services Department."

Davin's arrival brought the room to a standstill as every employee paused to look up.

"Everyone, meet Amelia Flynn, the new secretary for Mr.Stewart."

A round of applause swept through the room, and Amelia took the moment to observe her new colleagues.

Six desks filled the office, though one remained empty-her new workspace. Four men and one woman were looking at her with open curiosity.

Once Amelia sat down, Davin turned to the only woman there. "Sally, you'll be showing Amelia the ropes for the next few days."

Wearing a crisp blue blazer and rocking a sleek bob,Sally Jimenez gave off an air of competence.

With a confident smile, she replied to Davin, "You can count on me. Amelia's in good hands."
