Chapter 47

As he spoke, Patton reached out to grab the phone on the table, intending to call the police, but Amelia had already anticipated his move and took it away before he could.

Irritation crept over Patton's features. "So this is the way people from the Stewart Group treat their business partners?"

The moment Patton said that, Amelia gently set the phone down and replied with earnestness, "Mr.Carman,I admit | was late today, but that was my mistake alone. The Stewart Group shouldn't be judged like that because of me."

"Regardless of what you claim, I will not-"

Patton's protest died mid-sentence as Amelia presented a bracelet to him, leaving him shocked."This... This is the 'Eye of the Gods'?" Temptation tugged at him to snatch the bracelet from Amelia's palm, but her knowing smile made him stop himself.

Trying hard to tear his gaze away from the bracelet,Patton continued, "Don't think that just because you brought the 'Eye of the Gods, I'll compromise. You being late was a deliberate insult. I won't work with your company."

He expected her to keep trying to change his mind, but Amelia's answer shocked him. "Since you refuse to work with us, Mr. Carman, I won't pressure you further."

With that, Amelia headed toward the door to leave, her movements unhurried.

Watching her leave, Patton was torn, especially when he saw the 'Eye of the Gods' in her hand.

Amelia walked slowly, counting down in her mind as she approached the door.

Just as she was about to reach the door, Patton's voice echoed from behind. "Wait."

The sound of his voice made a spark of hope flash in Amelia's eyes.

At last, victory was within reach.

Retracing her steps, Amelia approached Patton. He thrust out his hand, jaw set, and demanded, "Hand it over!"

Amelia's first reaction was to hand over the bracelet, but he angrily said,"The contract!"

Fumbling for a second, Amelia pulled out the contract she had prepared, offering it to him with a pen.

Without a moment's pause, Patton wrote his signature on the final page.

After tossing the contract toward Amelia, Patton wiped his hands as if brushing away dust, his anticipation growing as he finally took the bracelet.

Years of searching had led him to this very moment, and he couldn't help but study the piece with obvious delight.

"Count yourself lucky this time. Don't think you can fix everything with a gift next time," he said to Amelia.

Amelia said, "The right accessory belongs with the right person. I believe this one is meant for you-"

Rolling his eyes at her attempt to charm him, Patton cut her off, saying, "Enough. You've got what you came for. Shouldn't you be on your way by now?"

Taking the hint, Amelia quickly nodded and made for the exit.

Just as she was slipping out, she nearly collided with Sammy, who was stepping into the room.

Seeing Amelia, Sammy opened his mouth to say something in anger, but when he noticed the contract in her hand, his eyes widened in shock.

Sammy had been Patton's assistant for over two y ears. He knew that despite his young age, Patton was stubborn, and once he made up his mind,it was nearly impossible to change it.

Without wasting a second, Amelia quickly left. The haze from the wine had taken its toll, and she could barely stay upright now.

As soon as she exited the room, she collapsed against Carlee.

With the experience of Amelia's previous drunken incident, Carlee quickly realized Amelia was feeling the effects of alcohol. "Amelia, hold on. I'll get you home right away."

Amelia stayed silent, barely managing to keep her balance as nausea crept up on her.

"Damn it! Why is this elevator so slow?" Carlee cursed under her breath at the unmoving elevator display, but just as she finished speaking, the elevator doors opened.

"M-Mr.Stewart?"

For a split second, Carlee froze, unsure how to react to the unexpected encounter.
