Chapter 89

About thirty minutes later, te car pulled up in front of Amelia's apartment building. Davin hopped out to open the car door for her.

She offered her thanks and stepped onto the curb, wanting to say her farewells to Wyatt. But then, she caught sight of him following her out of the vehicle.

Confusion flickered across her face as she turned to face him.

Wyatt met her eyes with a calm expression. He said,"I'll be spending the night here."

Amelia's eyes widened in disbelief when she heard that.

What did he mean by that?

Was he thinking what she thought he was suggesting?

Amelia kept silent. Wyatt stepped closer and added,"Sweetheart,we got married today. Surely you don't expect us to spend our wedding night apart?"

He was already standing right beside her as he finished.

For a split second, she wanted to protest. But no solid reason came to mind.

The two of them were officially married. Living together made perfect sense.

Still,Amelia felt she wasn't quite ready for that.

After some anxious thought, she could only say,"You don't have any of your things here, so maybe you should stay at your own place tonight-"

"Mr.Stewart."

Before Amelia could finish speaking, headlights flooded the curb as another car stopped nearby. Kurt then hopped out.

He nodded first to Wyatt, then broke into a wide grin when he looked at Amelia. "Mrs. Stewart, congratulations. May you both have the happiest life together!"

Amelia blushed at his heartfelt wishes. She managed a warm thank you. But then, she saw Kurt give instructions for a suitcase to be brought over from the trunk.

"I made sure to pack your usual clothes in here. If anything's missing, just let me know, and I'll bring it over," he said to Wyatt.

He then slipped back into his car, but before leaving, he tossed a look at Davin, who still lingered at the curb. "What are you waiting for? Get inside your car and leave."

As Davin left, Kurt's face lit up with genuine happiness. He nudged the driver to pull away as well, already imagining the newlyweds having children soon.

With the others gone, only Amelia and Wyatt remained.

The sight of Wyatt's suitcase left Amelia speechless. With nothing left to say, she gave in and unlocked the door.

Her nerves got the better of her. The key fumbled in her hand, refusing to cooperate. On her third try,her fingers trembled, and she nearly gave up. Wyatt's steady hand intervened. He quietly took the key from her and slipped it into the lock.

With a smooth turn, the door opened.

Wyatt paused at the open doorway and let Amelia step inside first before trailing after her, suitcase in hand.

A click from behind made Amelia freeze. The locked door signaled she was alone with him, and her heart pounded nervously

The apartment, modest and neat, only held a master bedroom and a tiny study. Anxiety crept in as Amelia wondered whether sharing a bed with Wyatt was unavoidable.

While she wrestled with her thoughts, Wyatt's voice drifted over. "Could you lend me a bit of space in your closet?"

She wanted to refuse, but after some thought, she silently led Wyatt to the closet.

Inside the bedroom, the wardrobe barely had any room to spare. With some effort, she shuffled her own clothes aside to make a sliver of space for his things.

Wyatt began to settle his shirts and jackets on the rack. Watching him, she fidgeted awkwardly, uncertain if she ought to lend a hand.

Wyatt must have caught on to her unease, because he glanced over and said, "I can do this on my own. Just go do whatever you usually do. Don't mind me."

"Alright then, I'll take a shower first. Take your time."

Without looking back, she slipped out of the room, finally feeling her nerves start to unwind as she entered the living room.

Earlier, all her thoughts had revolved around whether she would have to sleep beside Wyatt. Now, seeing the living room, she realized the space was a bit messy.

She subconsciously began tidying up. Once the living room looked presentable, she headed to the bathroom.

Inside, Amelia could not resist sending Carlee a message, telling her that Wyatt would be staying the night at her place.

At that very moment, Carlee was throwing back drinks at a rowdy bar. Her phone vibrated just as the noise peaked, and she dropped her glass to read the message.

Seeking a quieter corner, Carlee called Amelia without hesitation.

None of Amelia's friends were married, and Carlee-the self-proclaimed queen of nightlife-was her only confidant for this kind of thing.

"You and Wyatt tied the knot. Living together is completely ordinary," Carlee remarked as soon as Amelia picked up the call.

Deep down,Amelia understood it was natural, but the idea of sharing a bed with Wyatt made her nervous.

She actually liked Wyatt, though her mind had yet to catch up with her new role as a wife.

Carlee, noticing the silence on the other end of the line, figured Amelia must be nervous. She offered comfort in her usual playful way. "You're making this a bigger deal than it is. Just pretend he's nothing more than a stuffed toy lying next to you!"

"He's a real person, not a stuffed toy. That's hardly the same," Amelia retorted.

"Well, there's hardly a difference. Besides, Wyatt is unable to perform in bed," Carlee said.
