Chapter 64

Back inside her room, Amelia pressed her back to the closed door, letting herself breathe and trying to steady her racing thoughts.

Sleep wouldn't come to her that night. Wyatt's scent that clung to her skin and the memory of his eyes came to her mind every time she closed her eyes.

Only when the faint blushof morning crept through her curtains did exhaustion finally pull her into a shallow slumber.

She blinked awake to a sky so clear it seemed unreal.

Her hand darted to the nightstand for her phone, and the time made her eyes widen-noon was just around the corner.

When she scrambled out of bed and was about to head downstairs, her mind replayed the scenes from the previous night.

It was just a kiss, she told herself. With her wedding to Wyatt on the horizon, it shouldn't have meant anything unusual.

Amelia repeatedly told herself not to mind that and to be composed before heading downstairs.

However, to her surprise, Wyatt was nowhere to be found. The empty house offered both a sense of relief and a twinge of disappointment.

Had he left early just to avoid her?

The thought crept in, making her feel uneasy again.

Just then, a sudden noise by the entrance startled her, and her heart skipped a beat until she realized it was only Davin.

Davin, still remembering last night's scene, felt slightly awkward, but he managed a courteous smile."Miss Flynn, Mr. Stewart was out in a meeting and would lke you to join him for lunch at Moonlit Restaurant. You'目set off for the site inspection later this afternoon."

Hearing that Wyatt's absence was due to a meeting at one of his company's branches-not because of her -brought a small wave of comfort to Amelia.

The ride to the restaurant became a time to work. Amelia began typing out ideas for the resort proposal, only tucking her phone away when the car arrived at the destination.

Davin walked her to the private dining room before excusing himself.

As Wyatt's voice drifted from inside, Amelia's nerves threatened to undo her composure. She paused for a moment, telling herself to stay calm before finally stepping inside.

Seeing her, Wyatt rose and reached out to pull a chair out for her.. The moment she sat down, a server appeared with a bowl of soup. "You missed breakfast. Try some soup first; it'll settle your stomach," Wyatt said.

Nothing seemed out of place in Wyatt's manner, so Amelia fought to keep her own composure.

Barely touching her dinner last night, and now seeing a table filled with her favorite dishes, Amelia quickly began to eat as Wyatt joined her.

Moonlit Restaurant's flavors did not disappoint her.

By the end of the meal, Amelia finally felt relaxed. That was when Wyatt leaned in, voice low, and asked "Was last night's kiss really your first kiss?"

The words came out like a question, yet the certainty.in his voice left little room for doubt.

A sudden cough wracked Amelia as the juice went down the wrong way, making her eyes water.

Wyatt stepped in immediately. He moved behind her, steady hand patting her back with gentle reassurance.

It took a minute before Amelia finally managed to draw a steady breath.

She shot him a fierce look that could have pierced armor, silently wishing he would let the matter drop. Her mind was filled with silent complaints, but Wyatt's deep voice interrupted her thoughts. "That was my first kiss, too."

At first, the meaning slipped past her. Once it registered, she was shocked.

Although Wyatt was only twenty-five, Amelia knew that many wealthy men, like Jaxton, had lived recklessly during their university years, messing around with women.

But Wyatt was clearly different.

Learning that last night's kiss had been his first kiss sent a jolt of joy through her.

"You'll have to be good to me from now on, Amelia," Wyatt said.

"What?" Amelia found herself grinning. Shouldn't she be the one who said that?

"I'll make sure to treat you well, too,"Wyatt answered in a serious tone, almost as if he could hear her thoughts.

Relaxing, Amelia found herself chatting effortlessly with Wyatt. The atmosphere stayed light until a sudden knock came. Davin's voice echoed from outside. "Mr. Stewart, it's about time."

Stepping outside the restaurant, all three made their way directly to Prevda's bustling development district.

Once everyone settled into the car, Amelia turned her attention to her phone, making adjustments to her resort proposal.

Wyatt was about to ask her what she was doing when Amelia handed him her phone. "Here's a draft of my proposal. Take a look and tell me what you think."

Wyatt accepted the phone, his focus shifting entirely to the screen as he read the proposal.

Seeing his concentrated expression, Amelia felt a ripple of nervousness she hadn't expected.
